CCD expressed a concern that increases in planned expenditure for most artform areas outstripped the increases in Federal funding, and that the shortfall might be made up by reducing CCD funding amongst others.

CCDNSW responded by stating that the report did not provide any insight into the reasons behind the trends identified, ignored the then new tax system, and did not explore the diversity of the CCD sector.

Response to :"New Directions for the Arts: Supporting a vibrant and diverse Australian arts sector", recommending a strong platform for Arts and Cultural policy, in increase in funding, for srts and the professional infrastructure to support art and cultural practice, and the development of an Australia Council strategy to support community and cultural development.
